Doing "what we should be doing" is not part of the problem. The problem I have is the pot stirring caused by media outlets hellbent on making headlines based on false reports and shoddy science.
Most all of the "global warming is manmade" sources have been proven wrong time and time again and a lot of them have actually been proven to have falsified reports for profit. Does that ever make the news? Hardly. Calming people down doesn't sell newspapers or magazines. It also doesn't take attention away from other global issues like *ahem* war, so our government sources of reality, like the USGS, are never heard from.
Humankind has always blamed each other for the problems around them. Humankind also has a peculiar way of associating the world around ourselves like we are the center of it all. While there is no denying that smog sucks, the truth is that we are a very small part of the whole world and to think that we are the beginning AND the end of it all is self-centered.
Yes the globe is warming. Geological coring of both rock and ice show that we are on the temp upswing. Co2 samples are normal for the temperature rise too. Where's the issue? In a couple decades the earth will cool slightly and then rise even further. A couple hundred years will go by and we'll start to cool off again. As far as human climate records go back, we've always been going up in average temperature. Just looking at a couple decades doesn't show you anything at all. It's like looking at one letter of a word and guessing what the whole sentence is.
