unity gain tube stage?

Cathode follower: huge input impedance, low output Z, good for buffers and so on... I think that's the one you need.
 
Technically isn't a cathode follower slightly less than unity gain? I thought the gain of a CFwas usually more like 0.96 to 0.98. Guess that's just picking nits though...

You might also want to look into cathodyne (also known as concertina IIRC) if you want phase inversion at about unity gain.

Any line level circuit with a volume control stuck to the front of it is a potential unity gain tube stage(s). It's a little unsettling prescribing a schematic based on such a generalised request. What will it be used for....
 
Not quite eh ? an attenuator with make up gain after it
or the other way around is likely to suffer some noise
penalty and may not have the required impedance ,

which leads to , mentioning the application
[ and surrounding circuitry ] will draw some of the greater wisdom
from this grp [ ah not me though  ]

If the temptation is to want to run it through a tube , just because .
saying that here would likely draw fire
