It's just a bridging amp, more useful in the days of power-matched transmission lines than it is today. What do you want to know about it?

Gary, I wrote a post about it here somewhere.   I can't find it with the crappy new search engine.

(′brij·iŋ ′am·plə′fī·ər)

(electronics) Amplifier with an input impedance sufficiently high so that its input may be bridged across a circuit without substantially affecting the signal level of the circuit across which it is bridged.

An amplifier used to distribute video or audio signals, and provide isolation from the source of the signal to the transmission line.

It's not a mic preamp. Think of it as a sort of buffer for line-level signals.

In modern terms, think 'distribution amplifier'.   That's what the 118 was designed for.
