The Release function in my Quad Eight AM3b compressor did not work so I measured it and it read 1k (and was a reverse log pot) and should be 5M !
I wonder if this was installed like this from factory or not, the pot should not be able to change itself that much, or?

Anyway, I am now looking for a replacemt which I guess will be hard to find.
Looked through the usual places but could not find anything.

Anyone have any ideas or maybe even a pot for me??
A used one would work fine as well.

Hi.

Yes, i took it out and even dismantled it and measured directly on the carbon track!
I am thinking that they might have put the wrong pot in there from the start.
The knob next to it should be 1k reverse log but it looks different.
This pot looks just like the one on the left side but measures completely different.

What would be the difference if I put a 1m pot in there?
I guess the release would work differently.

If the pcb allows for it, you can always get a rotary switch with resistors and call it the "mastering version"  ;D

btw doesn't omeg.com do custom pots in any configuration for a decent price ?

Yes, I see that they have a 3m reverse log pot there.
I got that tip yesterday as well, apparently they are used in Fender amps.
Will buy one and try, maybe I change on both sides of the compressor to match them better.

By the way, the pot is panel mounted so it should be a large size pot.

Do we know that it is supposed to be reverse log, or only that the one in there is?
