500/51x Extension Jigs... great idea!
Thanks Peterson. I've had them up for a few months now.....I have just never mentioned it here before.  :-[

Possibly useful suggestion for the DIY mechanical crowd.  There's a lot of 500 mechanical info flung all over the place, but still some things that must puzzle some people.  Might move a few more units for you!  : )

You've got this nice drawing of the 500 bracket:

http://www.classicapi.com/catalog/images/gallery/GroupDIY/L-bracket/Blank-Bracket-for-pdf.pdf

How about a composite drawing that defines where two vertically centered screws would mount the faceplate to this sled so it aligns properly (when using ?? height (1/4"?) standoffs between PCB card edge and sled?) with the connector and mounting screw holes in a 500 rack.  Is it for countersunk PCB screws through the rear of the sled, or panhead?  Etc.

Oh, right:

The Radial Workhorse Specification document is interesting to see, but very specific to their product.
The Speck ASC-V drawing found around here gives some useful general info too.

Carry on.....

Nice, they look reasonably priced as well. Never heard of Crimson Audio Transformers but I'm sure they're decent if you're stocking them. Do you know which one would be a better match for upgrading a Cascade Fathead?

Either one will work a treat in the Fathead. Folks seem to prefer the 1:40 for the added extra gain.

Crimson has been winding for years. They supply iron for numerous pro audio manufacturers.

Jeff,
Looks like the set screws on the Gray Marconi knobs are in a lower position, so they'll work on the shorter shafts.
When the stock runs out on the red ones will they have the lower position set screws?

Yes exactly. I have new blue ones here now. I think I only have a few of the burgundy's left. I have 2 boxes due in tomorrow from them but I am not sure of the contents. One of them may contain the long awaited fluted skirted greys!

I just received a 250pc shipment of the burgundy Marconi's. These indeed have the lowered setscrew location so they will work with a standard Grayhill rotary switch.

Just a quick thankyou for the super fast delivery to the UK. The 2 xformers I had forgotten I needed to complete the TB550As I'm building turned up end of last week.

Thanks,

The Gimmer

Woah, that's pretty cool!!

Has anyone tried them out in place of GAR's or Red Dots yet? I know they tout them as highly colorful opamps. Just wandering what people's experiences are since they are priced above many others that are available.

I have finally received and added the gorgeous Elma/Neve Fluted-Skirted Presence knobs to the store catalog! Its been a long, long wait but well worth it IMHO. This completes the vintage Neve knob stable  ;)
