500 rack kit out of stock for long?
The missing rear panels should be heading to screen printing this coming week. I'll hopefully have everything back here in 2-3 weeks max.

The CAPI 511 rack kits are back in stock!

I see your stock of 1k stereo faders is getting low. Will you restock? Might need a few of these in the future and cant seem to find another source.

Thanks and all the best,

Magnus

I likely won't restock them.

Hey Jeff,

I know you don`t sell your knobs separately, but how about the colored stickers/inserts? I need a bunch for my API knobs, and I have a few I bought from you years ago that have this really nice stiff plastic that I haven`t found elsewhere. 3M I believe.

I just posted some special info for orders placed over the next week. Please see the red banner on all web pages for the details.

Jeff the headphone amp looks great!

I saw your new DI box and DI transformer on Instagram. Any chance you could share any details or when those might be available for sale? I gotta have em!

Introducing the garxxxx(OA10)

These started out as an experiment here at the shop,
Hence the original garxxxx moniker.  These turned into
My version of an OA10, an old early 70s German DOA.

The original OA10 was a 9 pin rectangular box with 2
Different versions of output transistors and were externally
Freq. Comped.  This DOA was designed to be operated
up to +/- 22v.  My German OA10 expert buddy told me that the
Originals were not very particular as to what transistors and
Diodes they used.

My version is a standard 2520 pin out with internal freq. comp.
Built in.  It uses all modern parts and will run fine at +/- 15v thru
The 51x standard of +/-24v.  (All of my protos were burned in for
3 weeks at +/-28v and still ran cool)
PSU decoupling is also on board like all my gar DOAs.  These
Will drive 2503 style of transformers with ease.

To my ears, the garxxxx is not as open/flat/clean as the gar918 top
to bottom but is still very nice and smooth in a very good way. I love
the warmth and presence of the lower mids without them being at all muddy.
Much warmer than all my other gar DOAs.

My Guitar beta tester loves the garxxxx in an API
style pre for guitars.  My other beta tester loves this guy for
vocals, bass and a general all around for mic pre duties.

To Jeff’s ears…
“Yes the low end warmth is what got us about it too. So thick and hefty
without being pillowy or flabby. I think it will rule for kick and bass.
We also like the smooth top end.”

I will be interested to hear what others think about other
Uses summing, EQs, Line amps etc.  Feel free to post
Your thoughts in the garxxxx(OA10) support thread
At GroupDIY.

These will soon be available at the CAPI store in both kits and
un-stuffed pcbs.

Best,

Gary

31.5:1 ratio to be used for some absolute blissful magic
I’ve got one coming Friday. Looking forward to that blissful magic!!

Edit: My order arrived a day early yesterday. The DI box was a super quick, self explanatory build and the final product is outstanding. Thanks Jeff!

Bump  :) If you can`t sell them separately, maybe you have a link/part # so I can get them elsewhere?

Any news on the SumBus 16? Maybe some more info / feature desctiptions you can spill?

Merry Christmas and all the best,

Hi Jeff,
Cool headphone amp - I've needed something like that for awhile.
Couple questions:
1) Description says: "Maximum recommended output load is 16 ohm. For example, two sets of 32 ohm headphones."
I think this might be a typo and it is a minimum recommended output load?

2) Does the mono button put the left input to both sides of the headphones, or does it sum the L/R inputs to mono? i.e. can I connect a single mic->preamp->headphone amp, can I hear it through both sides of the headphones?

Thanks!

Also, about the output -  does it have current limiting?
For instance if someone did accidently plug a mono 1/4" in to the output, shorting the R output to ground, would it fry anything?

Hey DMP

Maximum load (minimum impedance)

The Mono pushbutton sums the L/R audio after the receiver amp and before the output amp. So a single input source is sent to both L and R output amplifiers.

There is a 10Ω buildout resistor so the amp can withstand a direct short. It will get warm though.

Our 511 eleven space racks are back in stock!
