I know that some of us would like to see some earlier germanium pre's DIY.
I remember that somebody on TT tried to redraw some b100 or b104 circuits, but that never happened  So, maybe is clever to ask again.
 Hey, somebody :!: How about some nice old scans :?: Just for inspiration

Ok, let's try agin. Here is what i know about from my "memory".
I think that circuit includes some errors, but i nevet try to do some SPICE test. Hmmm, no big chance under OSX.....

So, will be nice to hear some comments about

hey Moby,

after building up the all ge preamp in this thread;

http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=2867&highlight=ba71

I'm very curious to hear these RN ge amps. I too saved these schematics a while back but have not got to building them yet.

cheers,
Lance

Sorrry for pics  About building.. i would like it but im afraid of possible circuit errors. So, i'm asking for some original scans to compare. Anybody?

With a little help of Tekay I'm diggin little deeper into NVE GE circuit
Right now im calling all known guys older then 65 yrs to check their old and forgotten stock. I would like to skip NTE substitutes, and find some original AC107 and OC36. If not, i would be happy with some substitute (old) suggestions

I have always wanted to do some modules based on those cards.

Do you got any schematics for the entire modules, with EQ, etc...?

I think you can use AC187 instead of AC107, but I'm not sure. AC187 is still available at least.

Best regards,

Mikkel C. Simonsen

I´ve heard that those are the modules that Rupert likes best from his discrete ages... Maybe because of Gardners transformers??? But maybe because of the Germaniums...

Im sure because of GE transistors. I heard only once that sound and still ringing in my head  Hey, oldtimers, give some advice

There is plenty of old stock transistors around. I believe the Ge stuff needs more pretesting and the yield will not be as great, but they do sound mellow.
Heatsinks needed due to more thermal drift.

I was thinking about creating PCB inspired by later BA modules. Now with CJ thermal note, i will try to keep output transistor as much is possible close to small signal driver. Maybe its not necessarily because single end topology, but.... Also i know something about GE changes characteristics over the years :?: I must admit that i never had any problems, with old ones, but will be nice to know :green:
