Hi there,

i read that MAnley use a pair of 6BA6/EF93's running as triodes as a substitute for 6386 in their vari-mu compressor. I am keen to experiment. I was just wondering, when connecting EF93 as a triode,(actually, I got some HF93's) do I just ignore the other grids(pin 2 and pin 6), or should they be connected in any way? - perhaps all three are strapped together?

I cannot find any schematic showing anything like this. I would happily just try it and see, but I don't want to fry me tubes!

        KIndest regards,

Usually, just connect the suppressor to the cathode (this is internally connected on some pentodes already), and connect the screen to B+. I have also seen cases where both are connected to B+, but not so often.
