Ray Charles has died.

My son just called from his radio station to tell me API is reporting Ray Charles died today at 73. No details yet.

He has been one of my favorite musicians since childhood. I think I have nearly everything he recorded. I will miss him more than I can say

A friend of mine did FOH sound for him for a while...

Closest I ever came... I'll always picture him in "the Blues Brothers" :grin:

I opened for him once. I took my then 5-year-old daughter backstage, sat her on a road case and we watched Ray from the wings together. She'll never forget it and neither will I. He made me actually like "Some Enchanted Evening."

Ray Charles was one of a few people who I felt completely overwhelmed by. The man had enough talent and soul for an army. He gave us a great opportunity to be able to hear just how good music can be.
