Nesmith had a few diamonds in the ruff back in the day. That said this sucks.

He got a little too experimental, I think. My favorite Monkees songs are all Nesmith-penned.

For the record: Lucy and Ramona is 1979 and pre-dates MTV. Those cheeze-whizz effects were actually non-trivial at the time, at least on shoestring budget.

It may be argued that Nesmith invented MTV, at least as much as his Mom invented Liquid Paper. Mike produced a half-hour show on Nickelodeon called "Pop Clips." MTV is the same thing only non-stop. Oh wait... isn't The Monkees just MTV with only one band? Mike sure didn't invent the Monkees, that was ripped-off from Richard Lester; but Mike did have some influence later as the suits tired of the format.
