Just wondering what I can do to test out some 990 DOAs I built before I put them into my 525s just to make sure they work/they won't blow anything up.

thanks

Hi,

I've built 8 and had 2 problems. One was stupid. THis thread talks about it.

http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=14422.120

I put some pins in a breadboard and wired a simple amp up with gain of 10. I fed the PS I was using with some current limiting resistors (after blowing up one) so as to give me time to shut it off.

I've got a bench PS with built in current limiting now....

It was an easy and simple test jig. The photos are still online.

Thanks for the link.

I'm looking for a PS for these and other project testing in the future so I'm thinking about this one:

does anyone know of a pcb/kit/circuit for regulating the voltage so I can bring it down to +/-15V?

thanks,

ben

you could use mnats (or for overkill Fabio's) dual power supply and replace the trim pots with a potentiometer to adjust the voltage to your needs.  better to have a pot which is spec'd higher wattage for longevity, but DOAs don't draw that much current.

you could also modify an adjustable +/- V-regulator PSUs such as  Peter C's.

put it in a box and you've got a bench/lab dual supply.  that's what i did.  won't do very high current (dependent on your current rating of your PSU components), but you should be able to do most projects with it just fine.
