Hi!

Can anyone recommend a decent six-position switch to use as an unbalanced stereo volume control? Solder lugs essential and a nice, smooth feel a plus. Should be reasonably bombproof - cost a lesser factor.

I've been using "guitar-style" selector switches courtesy of the local surplus/elec store (Addison for the Montreallers) and it's destroying my soul. Bad feel, break easily under heavy use, etc.... It's for my main studio volume control, so it needs to be able to handle constant use with a graceful smile.

I'll be ordering from either Mouser or DigiKey in the near future, so bonus points if it's available from either of those.

I find switches are one thing where there are just SO many options, it's good to see which are working for other people.

thanks to all!
Matthew

You can use Grayhill too..i'd search on ebay...

These should work good provided non shorting is ok.

Hiya Jorge! [wave]

And thanks for the tips, guys.

Non-shorting would be preferable anyways, no? Otherwise there would be some strangeness as I rotate between positions...?

Seems like there would be anyways - I don't recall ever using a shorting switch as a volume control.
