Hi!

I thought these looked dodgy as...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Two-2-Neumann-M149-tube-microphones_W0QQitemZ320398387674

zero feedback,... chrome grill surround and baseplate, and the the fonts on the serial number tag look bogus to me, but I haven't held a real one. Can anyone compare with a good one? I know they did a few funny special editions to celebrate some anniversary or other  :-\

I have no intention of bidding, but was about to report it.

I've never used a 149 that had chrome but then again I have never used a neumann m149 anniversary. It's also known as the M 149 Jubilee Microphone.

It was a special edition release.

In celebration of its 75th anniversary, Neumann is offering the M 149 Jubilee Microphone, an exclusive, platinum-edition microphone. The M 149 Jubilee's finish is reminiscent of the U47, the head grille and lower part of microphone sport the high-quality platinum finish and the body is the traditional Neumann nickel finish. With the company's "75 Years" logo engraved on the front, all microphones bear consecutive serial numbers up to 500.

The microphones are available as a complete mono or stereo set with high-polish elastic suspensions and vintage power supply units with hammer finish. They come in a high-quality protective aluminum case that can be personalized with the owner's name and microphone serial number engraved on a special metal plate.

"This unique platinum-edition microphone is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to celebrate the colorful history and heritage of Neumann," said Jeff Alexander, Sennheiser's director of distributed brands. "While the M 149 Jubilee is certainly a museum-quality keepsake, we hope our customers will use it as they would any other Neumann. After all, it's the remarkable audio performance of these mics that truly defines what our company is all about."

The photo is too fuzzy to read the text easily - but it does indeed look like the jubilee edition that skylar and pucho posted. Very Bling!

If I had a pair of these for sale I'd at least take some decent photos!

Well, I asked him about if he'd permit the microphones to be looked at/inspected at his convenience, that was a couple of days ago. -So far no reply.

Sorry, but where do you see it is a "Jubilee " pair, or a special edition  ?
The Ebay description does not mention it.
Or am I blind ?

No you are correct. There is no mention of jubilee in the ebay add anywhere. It was originally asked if there was such a Neuman with chrome and the answer is yes it is the M149 jubilee edition.
That is how that was mentioned.

There is indeed a "M 149 Jubilee" written on the blurry photo of the 2 mics.

Here is a "real" one from the 1st of the 2 links posted by Skylar:

Anyway yes, no response in some days, only 1 fuzzy photo, 0 feedback.. smells a lot like its a fake.
Or, sadly, a stolen pair.

Need more photos than that. A far away shot like that? And they are trying to get the best money they can get for an expensive set of microphones? Something seems south.  ::)

God I wish they are real only up to 1300$. They are one of the best mics ever. I've used 1 a couple times before. Awesome mics. I can't believe it wouldn't be listed as "Special Edition". Maybe they are stolen?
