Hello,

I bought this Mk012 cardioid capsules paire at a bargain price (40 euro for a matched stereo paire) and now thinking of building a circuit to power them. I could go the (modded) oktava way, it's known to be a "clever" design, but I could do anything else, since I only own the capsule right now. Body size and electronics are to be determined.
My knowledge is limited, so any advice, and help in choosing, adaptating or creating a desing will be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Laurent.

I think a Schoeps type circuit would work well for you if you want to build something.

Used in many many condenser microphones.

Here is a schematic from Scott Helmke's site:

Thank you, Les,
Yes, I know the Alice circuit, but one thing I know is that its made to power electrets (a few volt for polarization. In the oktava circuit, I've read somewere that polarization voltage for the capsule was around 21 volts or so. I'd need then to add a polarization network and a blocking cap between the capsule and the fet...

regards,

Laurent.

Sorry Laurent, I gave you the wrong link. We have a version for non electret capsules too, but I can't find an external link to give you.

The only place it's posted that I know of is in our micbuilders yahoo group. It's in the files section.

You have to join the group to see it... but you will like the group!

!!!! I was thinking I ever saw this version too, and found it looking for a Scott Dorsey mod on chinese mics I remembered wile you were posting. Here is the link:

This could be a good idea to try it, thanks.
Also much interested to look further to the mic builders yahoo group, sure there are many good things to learn there!

Laurent.

Yeah, that's basically it. Polarization voltage is a bit higher. Ours is a little different.

We have much discussion about the best version of this circuit on micbuilders. Looking
forward to seeing you there!

Hey all, thanks for the links and information provided. I am searching about this information to help one of my friends. Thanks.
