Sorry folks, I genuinely tried the search box and no luck.

Anyone have a good, solid, and relatively inexpensive source for rack chassis? Specifically for the ssl clone?

thanks,

kb

I gave up on relatively inexpensive some time ago...
Expect to pay around £37+ for a decent one

Sorry. Yes, a 19" 1RU box. And I'm in the USA.

How about reasonable instead of inexpensive?

Thanks fellas.

par metal is the best price/quality ratio. You won't find much cheaper, and it's very good stuff. If you fond anything cheaper that's worth having, we don't know about it!

Hear, hear!

After all this time, I finally gave Par-Metal a try and I'm stunned at how much more bang-for-the-buck you get compared to the Bud, Sescom and others I've tried.

Peace,
Al.

For the 9K preamp I`m putting together I just used a box for a computer network switch/hub & bought a new 1U panel for £1.61. If you get a hub thats old enough people are throwing them away because they`re so slow & outdated. The right one comes in a box that is effectivly a 1U box but with out the rack ears. You just screw the new front panel to the face of the box.

Surplus shops also. I found some 19 inch stuff that was used for broadband routing, so it's ultra plated with RFI material, and contains mu metal-like partitions and cans! Chassis like thes will provide more shielding than a stock metal rack, if you can find them.
