I found some designs for power amp clipping indicators but I'm looking for some line level output indicators.  Also looking for a soft limiter design like in the Apogee mini me.  Thanks for any help.

I looking to add this to the back end of a mic pre.

Thanks for the link but the website for soundskulptor isn't working in that thread and it's looks as if that's what I need.

Sorry for the website flu, it is back to work now.
The LED driving circuit is on page 2 of this PDF : http://www.soundskulptor.com/pdf/mp12-schematic.pdf
But no soft limit here.

As for the soft clipping, well... for starters you could look for the schematic of a limiter, and set fixed parameters: 0 threshold, infinite ratio, fastest attack and release possible...

Hello,

nice circuit from soundskulptor. does anybody know how can i make the circuit more sensitive? for -10db consumer level (yes i have some -10db gear in my studio, so i want it to make switchable) it isnt sensitive enough.

Thanks

Olli

Clip level threshold  is actually set for 3,63V by the voltage divider R26/R27.
For -10dB down you could try R27 as 3K9 for similar behaviour, or use a trimmer to adjust to your needs.
R28/R29 is setting threshold of signal present LED.

You probably already looked here: http://gilmore2.chem.northwestern.edu/projects/limiter_prj.htm

Headphone soft clipper scheme could simply be scaled down for line-level (choose your standard/reference).

Hello,

thanks a lot. i've meanwhile set r28 & r29 to 82k, so the treshold for clipping and signal present is now approx the middle between -10db and +4db. the finetuning will done by two 50k trimmers and a switch in front of the schematic. works fine.

thanks a lot

Can you post your schematic or pcb when done?

Jo,

here's the schemo ;)
