anyone have any ideas where to start?  I'm sure it would be a fairly simple circuit, but just wondering if there are any schematics out there to help with the design.  Thanks guys!

The only thing that comes to mind is the crush-and-blend circuit for the SSL comp. May or may not be suitable, I never built it.

Looks cool.

Boss LS-2 and Ibanez LS-10 (so a Behringer clone as well) will do what you're looking for.
Schematics are out there on the interweb, so you could buy or DIY.

I was making an off-color joke about the free bible on the General Guitar Gadgets page.  ;)  I thought it was going to be the bible of guitar effects at first.  Then realized it was quite literal.  I have no issue with that, just odd to see amongst a bunch of guitar pedals.

Dude, just wire it up like on tonepad, I already gave you the link.

Make sure you add a phase invert switch.

this.

ive built a couple of these for some friends, with true bypass. the first i made because a bassist was looking for a way to get a fuzz sound, with no low frequency loss. then the guitarist in the same band wanted one for distortion/delay effects. they are awesome, super useful pedals.

my only "complaint" is this: it acts as a boost when the master is all the way up. i would like more drive in this boost. the solution to this is going to be dead simple, but i am not yet someone who would know what to change.

If you are talking about gain provided by the last stage of Moosapotamus' mixer it's due to the relationship of

Rf being 100k R1 10k

You could get more boost by changing one of the resistors or you could get more drive (you mean distortion?) by using a shitty opamp here or by changing the circuit to look more like a ts-808 distortion pedal, but I would think that's a mistake here, you want this to be clean and let your pedals do the distortion, IMO.
