Multi value capacitor questions (Altec 525A PSU)
« on: December 07, 2009, 04:05:03 PM »
Hi,

What are good sources in the US for multi value can type capacitors? Are there many varieties of these being produced these days? Is it worth looking for a direct replacement or should I just wire in individual caps? I'm not even sure of the proper terminology for this type of cap.

I've got a 20x20x20x20 450V in I think 5 or 6 Altec 525As here, so that's what this is for in this case.

Thanks!

You can try The tube store   http://thetubestore.com/
or their wholesale arm (maybe 20% cheaper, but ya gotta be a biz)
whick is  CE distrubution.

look at multi-stage caps or F&T caps (i think)

Try cedist.com  (CE Distributing)  I bought some Hammond and Leslie replacement cans from them.  Not cheap, but if you gotta have them........

Thanks for the info. I may just look into wiring some more standard and cheaper caps into these PSUs.
