Hi everyone,

The biggest problem for me, and as for many of you when building a microphone, is its body. Enormous problem to make and even greater problem to make it look good diy. This afternoon I received 5 different microphone body samples which can be ordered, from where else but China.

The manufacturing quality is pretty good. Same or better than Behr*ing*er.
The bodies include PCB mounting brackets, 3pin and 7pin male connectors.
The shockmounts seem pretty good too.

Here are more pics:

I haven't measured the exact sizes yet, but I will soon.
Those three bigger bodies would roughly cost under 100$ each, and the smaller two around 10$ less.
The shockmounts would cost 30$ for the bigger one and 10$ for the smaller one.
The minimum order I can make is 100 pieces of each body.

Is anybody interested in these bodies?

Regards, Renx.

I think you can buy those housings with capsules, electronics everything included in 1s for not much more than $100 prob get even cheaper if you buy 10s or 100s.....

I went thru this excercise about 6 months ago and if buying 200, I think the pricing was down to around $50 -$60. There did'nt seem to be much interest around here for them, most were more interested in Skylar's mic project.

I bought the one in the middle recently for $150 retail with shockmount, power supply, 7-pin cable and flight case.

My colleague knows a guy who imports stuff from China to Europe. About two years ago we asked him to find out the price for a Chinese valve condencer mic. As a starting point we gave him link to Thoman SCT700 (if I remember correctly). After a month he send us info about a mic looking quite similar to the mic in the middle in your picture. The price was about 50 euros MOQ 100 pcs. For custom version MOQ was 1000 pcs and price would be "much" lower. And I believe he doesn't even have the best possible contacts since his business is totally other than electronics import.

Thank you all for your information.

I really didn't know that you could get them so cheap, and that you can order only one like Gary said. From all your info it seems as my source isn't the best  :-[ . Could somebody please point me to where these mics with all the extra accessories can be bought for 150$ in quantities of one. This will surely help me with my next mic project since the last time i diyed my own body it cost me almost twice (more than 100euro).

I got mine off ebay.  There was a link posted here a while back.  They were branded as "Stellar".  Looks like they are currently sold out of this model though.

I didn't even try the stock capsule/circuit.  I bought the mic as a body and power supply donor for the MK7 and threw a Thiersch capsule in it.

Yeh the ones at Thomann aren't bad either money wise for what you get (mic body, aluminium case, shockmount etc.)
