Hi guys!
i was wondering: how can i measure voltages on a XLR connector?  i mean from a balanced line
and how can i measure voltages on an unbalanced line?

thanks

yeah, i thought it. i was not sure, i needed a confirmation.
i didn't tried yet because i'm not at home.
a normal multimeter would do this?

thanks

Yes it will, and you will save a lot of time if you make a XLR to banana or clip leads cable.  Then you can connect at will and not have to juggle test leads around MXLR pins or jam into FXLR.  I would go clip leads if you are testing balanced and unbalanced cables.

With a balanced line you always measure between pins 2 (hot) and 3 (cold). If you are using an oscilloscope for this, do NOT connect the probe's ground lead to pin 3.

For unbalanced you measure between the hot and the shield.

thanks guys, it works.
ground - hot <-- unbalanced
hot - cold <-- balanced

thanks

i do not have an oscilloscope yet.
i'm not sure i could use it
