9k balancing board question
« on: January 15, 2010, 06:29:18 AM »
So I am almost finished racking up four old Audio Developments channel strips into a loud orange box, and I am considering my options on output.
These are a single 24v supply MC748 based strips and provide an unbalanced output.

original thread here  http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=34150.0

At first I was going to use appropriate edcor transformers to provide balanced outputs but now I am considering using the 9k project balancing boards to provide a balanced output (which will create some headaches for me in terms of power supply but anyway).

My question is, do the IC's on the balancing board change the sound of the signal (which might be a good thing), and do they impact on the gain structure?

These are pretty "clean" sounding... and add 6dB of gain (at least the THAT 1646 does, I am not sure of the DRV134). hope that helps.

Great - thanks mitsos,

6 dB added would be handy as they are not outputing huge numbers at the moment.

will be great to get these finally done and move onto the next projects i have planned.
