Anyone have a parts and numers list. I know there is a thread up like this for the SSL compressor. Thought a few people might like to referance 1 for the G1176. I know I would.

This should at least get you started. When i ordered the parts, I already had some of them, so some of the part #'s are missing.. Just search mouser or digikeys for those...

With the exception of 1K1 resistor, which is specified as a 1W resistor, is 1/4W or 1/2W preferred for the 1176? I plan to order 1% metal films.

Hello...part soucing questions

1) I am having trouble finding some 2.2k trimmers.
could someone tell me where you purchased your 2.2k trimmer for the G1176? Does anyone know what "brand" of trimmers the 2.2k trimmers Jakob is using on his G1176 clone? I know some of them are "PIHER"
Mouser only sells in qty of 500.

2)

I am having trouble getting the BD517,518's
I have emailed Fibra-Brandt many times. I tried to checkout
Henkel Electronik but I cannot read German. I may just use
the BD135,136 as suggested by Frank at NRG Recording.

3)

Is it ok to replace the 220p polyester with a 220p mica film ?
I think this should be a acceptable replacement?

:thumb: thanks

I'm in the process of making a parts list as well, and I'm in the same boat as Zee1usa.

I found a 2.5k trimmer at Digikey. I'm thinking that will be fine. Same with the 470K. I found a 500k. Anyone?

I am new to this forum (and DIY audio projects), and this seems like an awesome resource. Where are you guys getting your 1176 PCB boards? About how much (in US dollars) are they? Thanks!

I am having trouble locating these potentiometer:

4M7 Lin POT 6mm RELEASE
22K Lin POT 6mm ATTACK

Does any one have suggestion where in the U.S. where I could purchase these? I tried digikey and mouser, but maybe I was not searching with the right parameters?

Frank at NRG mentioned radiohm for the 4M7 (stereo) ..but I was hoping for a source in the USA rather.

Tubesandmore.com has a 22k for a "marshall" guitar amp that may work?

Thank you!

also... I was able to get my BD517/18 from fibra-brandt.
I got the last 2 BD518's they had and they said they would not
restock them. So it looks like all they have left is the BD517.
It is very expensive $32.00 for the 4 transistor and ship.

Has anyone had any luck finding those two pots, or the BD517/18 here in North America? Well, or anywhere for the BD517/18. I saw that if you switched the pins on a common US part (I can't remember the part numbers) that they would work fine. Would this impact the sound?

Also, has anyone found any large knobs that are cool at mouser or digikey? I have four knobs left over from the SSL compressor (the knobs listed in the SSL Parts list) so preferably something to go with that.

Thanks,

Jay

Here's some info from the other thread, just to help complete the list for north american buyers of 1176 parts.

hey guys, i found 5m and 25k pots.. www.mouser.com 31VA605 for the 5M and 31VA403 for the 25k. they are 1.25$usd a peice. they also have all the other values too so they will all be the same style.

get bd135/136 at www.newark.com in the US. End quote.

For the record, it's my understanding that the legs on on the bd135 and bd136 need to have their legs flipped to make them work properly in the G1176 PCB boards. I just tryed searching the GYRAF site, because I thought I found it off of one of those links, but I couldn't find it. Could someone post on here what legs to flip? :guinness:

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the help with the PCBs, mine came in the mail and look great (but I'm more excited about them being put to use). I am using the American parts list posted here for most of my parts, but I have a question about the power supply transformer:

POWER SUPPLY TRANSFORMER 2X24V/500mA TE62052-ND 16.25 Digikey 16.25 *

Is actually rated (according to digikey) as 12 Volts and is a different design than the one in the pictures on the gyraf site...its hard to mount and doesn't look very conventional.

You can find the info at www.digikey.com and then search for part number "TE62052-ND"

Here is the picture of the transformer style I am looking for (so it is more easily mounted on the chassis).

http://www.gyraf.dk/gy_pd/1176/g1176_construct04.jpg

This is my first project (at least using AC power) and I am clueless as to whether I noticed a mistake or just don't understand something. Please explain! Also, if you have any alternative transformer choices, please let me know. Thanks!

Hello Chris,

I cannot help you with finding a standard transformer. Some of us
choose to go with a toroid transfromer which may be a better option?
A toroid will not be able to mount on the side of the chassis, but will mount on the bottom. They cost about twice as much as the standard transformers, so if your trying to keep the costs at a minimum a standard will do fine. The toroid(s) I am using are:

AVEL LINDBERG p/n Y236106 $23.00

This toroid will work for the G1176.

Zee1usa,
Thanks alot, I wans't sure about why the transformer was so much different looking than what I am used to seeing. What is the reason that a toroid transformer is a better option? Is it a sonic thing? Or is it more stable over time? Easier to get ahold of? Just wondering. I am not too concerned about spending a few extra bucks...I'd rather pay out and make an awesome compressor, learn a lot. Thanks for the help.
-Chris

Offkey_99,
I used the AMVECO TE62065 (from digikey), which is rated at 2x22 VAC at about 1/2 amp. I was worried about not getting enough voltage, but with steady 115V in, I am getting about 27 VAC out, enough for the regulator to do its thing. I'm acutally powering two units (plus 8 LEDs) off of one transformer with no problems yet. Not sure how euro power will do...

Also, I haven't had any noise problems with Gustav's boards and this TX, didn't need to change the ground plane.
