Building some acoustic panels, just thought i'd ask.

Cheapest i can find is £23 a sheet! (6mm 2440 x 1220)
 
That's only slightly too much for the thick (6mm) stuff, which is expensive, but the 4mm type might be adequate for your purpose and is a lot cheaper, more like £6.00 a sheet IIRC.

Have you tried Travis Perkins, etc?
 
yeah 4mm might do but its the board itself that gives the panel rigidity.
Also needs to be tough as they're going in a couple of youth centers , bats, knives and bullets flying all over the shop!

Tried most of the trade outlets i can think of really, just thought it was worth asking here.

The board will be covered with carpet so just pop a load of holes with a drill or hole saw instead i think.
Couple of different hole sizes may be better acoustically anyway.
I swear last time i built panels pegboard was much cheaper... maybe not.
