test equipment recommendations ("nothing in tools of the trade")

Can anyone recommend good quality dc power supplies and function generators.  I was hoping to find something under "tools of the trade", but I did not see anything on electronics test equipment.  I appreciate any suggestions.  I've looked at some power supplies and most don't go up to 48 volts.  It would be nice if they did, considering that I could use it for testing phantom devices.  Until now, I've used a board or a pre's phantom to power things up when necessary, but what does everybody else do?
