Hi there,
Nice forum! I am interested in doing something fairly simple, a pair of DI of some sort. The goal is to construct something useful and learn about where to get the prototype boards/etc... perhaps doing a preamp in the future.

The DI needs to have an input impedance of >100K ohm, for loading pickups in the range of 5-8 K, and I would prefer to keep distortion low for this part (lets save distortion for the preamp), but if I can get an exceptional sounding DI for a little distortion I don't really care.

Are there certain known circuits I should be interested in pursuing? Is this a case where the DI portion is so minimal I should really just do the preamp at the same time?

The intended use is for bass guitar if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

thanks for the link- is that circuit well liked around here? If it is, I would think the best way for me to approach it would be to do point to point. Space isn't really a consideration. Can anybody recommend any nice breadboards? I saw some online a while back that looked great but I couldn't find where to buy them (they looked like this: http://www.shine7.com/audio/6922pre_pcb.jpg)
thanks!

This may help

I cannot personally comment on the sound, but intend to build one soon based on other peoples favourable comments.
I think BO is currently evaluating alternative transformers, so keep an eye open for updates.
