Anyone out there expert at these units.
I have a weak distorted echo. I have to turn my les paul right down low so as not to distort the echo but then I have sever noise issues.
Is this normal.

I totally recapped the unit and have gone through all the components on the main board which seem to be within spec.
I have not looked at the oscillator board yet - it is a very simple circuit.
What should the p-p voltage of the oscillator be? I want to check the voltage to see if anything is wrong before I unmount the PCB which is quite a pain in the butt.
Maybe I am not getting a strong enough oscillator voltage...

Has anyone got a MK4 which is working well. If so can you measure the P-P AC voltage across the erase head.
