Studer 169 Clicky Limiter Problem
« on: May 06, 2010, 02:55:37 PM »
A bit of help needed.

This is my first venture into old console maintenance.

I've noticed a really quiet but irritating clicking on my Studer 169's right limiter when I hit the threshold... Seems to happen particularly bad on fast release settings. I was wondering if anybody had any problems similar to this or have an idea what this might be?

I've cracked it open and have seen all the caps have been replaced but the all the solder points on the recap look alright but a little dark, could it maybe just be an oxidization problem? The sound is great apart from this little click when the limiter kicks in.

Anyway it'd great to get some opinions or anyone's experience on this...

Many thanks,

Sam
