digital ftw, eh?

no "leaked government documents from a cannon hard-drive" story yet?

ouch-that's crazy...

There are other "hidden" features in copiers.  I user to work at a UPS Store.  We had a color copier.  Once someone tried to copy a dollar-bill (or it may have even been a magazine cover with the image of a dollar bill).  The whole copier shut itself down and just gave an error code.  When we called the copy company and told them the error code, they just said they'd send a tech out, and actually a FBI agent came out.  ;D

This problem is really easily solved with Ricoh machines when a DOS unit is installed.
First of all it encrypts all data written to the harddrive and second it drops random bits on the harddrive after a print/copy/scan is made so that if you CAN encrypt the data you still get rubbish because random bits are missing... problem solved.
The police/justice in Holland has a policy that if a machine is returned they want the HDD's to be removed and they destroy it theirselves.
