ignore the flying wires etc :D
we will clean this up for the final revision.

Flying wires? Hmm. The only thing I noticed was the fine bottle of lager.  ;D

Always the first step for any testing procedure.  :D

Oh dear, the disease of "more" flares with a vengeance...great stuff, congrats, I look forward to it!

hehe, it is the final step to celebrate success ;D
or the final step to forget some problems :D :D :D

Augustiner beer? You should swap to something better like this:
na, Jens - that bottle is too small ::)

Danke analag :)

at the moment I'm very pissed off with this project.
received the rev02 proto PCBs yesterday, they look good, will populate them with parts today.

the same time I remembered my order of the Bourns potentiometers beginning of august ...
10 weeks lead time, haven't heard about it for about 12 weeks.
phoned the german distributor ...
he told me the company didn't order the parts.
he wanted to visit me today at 10 am to explain ...
I even cleaned my workbench for this visit  ::)
(it is the same company dealing with Grayhill, Alps and other interesting parts in europe)

at 10 am I got an email, he forgot an internal meeting ???
and that I have to order at least 500 pieces.
12 weeks behind after I placed my order
and for twice the price my friend Jeff told me for a 250 pieces order in the US   ::)

ok, I will send a "please help me" mail to our friend Jeff,
but he won't be able to change Bourns lead-time of 10 weeks ...

heck, I want those Bourns 8)
and due to metalwork (L-Brackets / Frontpanels) you need the right parts.
if anybody wants PCBs only contact me :D

rant over, see you next year

I may have a couple suppliers that have them in stock, PM me the part number and i can find out.

Electronic part lead times are really bad sometimes, I saw a part I needed on mouser the other day with a lead time of 51 weeks...I called to ask, and yeah, it's 51 weeks

No I can't change the lead-time. I can say my supplier is awesome. When she tells me something, she does it.

Give me the word and we will get this going for you Volker.

I am anxious for a pair of these myself so let's not prolong this any more.

Ordering custom parts can usually suck. I feel your pain my friend.

Best, Jeff

while my daughter is working on the 2nd prototype  ;D ;D ;D
I will give you a little update (do you think this will work ??? ??? ???)

Holger, how do you like rev02 (I'm sure yours looks better) ;D

received some expensive but good german iron for this project yesterday:

since I have said goodbye to my Bourns potentiometer I have to rethink something.
while the Bourns 51 with metal bracket would have hold nicely the control PCB to the front, I doubt two standard 3pin potentiometers will do this in a safe way.
I will either enlarge the control PCB to add two screw holes (which makes the separation senseless),
or I will do a brand new rev03 PCB with no separated control PCB.
still leaves the potentiometer brand open, but we need to decide it before manufacturing L-Brackets and fronts.

btw, I'm in contact with our friend Dan (ddt) for L-Brackets, and may be front panels.

in the meantime I will build and test a rev02 PCB with the Pikatrons :)

somebody has to do the work while I still can't use my hand ;D ;D ;D
the main problem is she loves shorts :D :D :D
if the Fluke doesn't "beeeeeep" on each solder joint she thinks it is broken ...
well, this version sounds clean ;D

Good; since I had to recycle some of the Rev.1 components I doubt that my PCB currently looks much
better than your daughter's PCB  ;)

If the pots of choice (Burns) aren't available, its maybe better to skip the control/main boards idea and put all components on one board.

I still need some time to evaluate the limiter in my studio, but from my first impression it sounds beefy (no wonder since there is some
iron involved).

Volker, found my meter bug, the 072 was burned and led to the freaking meter in O/P mode.

a very smart US based audio manufacture offered me to help out with the bourns potentiometers!
(no new PCB design needed).

release date will be Q1 2011.
due to the (hard to get) bourns and pikatron parts supply might be limited to a maximum of 50 pieces, we will see.
