I thought the Honeywells at Allied would do but they are pricey too.

maybe these:

thanks for the links. Surplus sales doesn't mention the taper on some of those.  hmmmm. the price of 7 dollars is good though.

It's for a passive headphone control like the simons cb4.

NTE rebrands the PEC pots and frys electronics stocks them for $6-11.

I belive the usual suspects carry the NTE parts too.

The key there is if they have that part, I'm sure they do...

hmmm... I need to go to fries anyway for some related stuff.. Worth looking into.

I made several CB-4-style boxes with those pots (PEC Dual 1K Log), and had troubles with them failing often.  I changed to a 6-position stepped control with power resistors, which also failed soon due to the cheap-ass switches I was using.  Now I'm using pricey Grayhills and it looks promising...

The CB-4 pots seem to hold up (Clarostats?), but I don't know where to get them.  When one of them in a CB-4 finally gave out (after years and years), I replaced it with a PEC pot, and it only lasted a couple of months.  :(

Yeah every PEC pot I have had, seems to go wonky. Our 1176's at work have them and they got sctrachy right away... Hmmmm might just have to bight the bullet and go with the 26 dollar pots.
