I know where I might be able to get one cheap (or maybe even "borrow" on a permanent basis  ) , and the channel strips are modular so it would be conveniant for mods and such. It's not a recording console, the soundcraft website lists it as a general purpose console (32 channels, 4 auxes). I know it needs a little work (couple channels out) and I figure it would be good for me and give me something to learn troubleshooting on. I have a A&H gl4000 where I work, and it's got a channel out. I'd love to try to fix it, but I'd rather work on something a little more "disposable" first. Mostly curious if it sounds decent. Thanks for any thoughts.
