I don't like those ALPS switches, they causing me cognitive dissonance. Have to change them to toggles.
what's wrong with those switches?

Igor, would be nice if Jeffs DOA sockets would fit:

ALPS switches: nothing wrong with them. Two reasons: caps and look.
I can't found round caps, 5...5.5 mm diameter.
Having both toggles and pushbutton switches at same small space...Dunno.
It can be good to replace ALPS switches with toggles, but have to source something really nice.

For now, DOA sockets from Farnell used, #149318
Drill diameter is 2mm. They have less height than Jeff's sockets as well.
If I change the drill to 2.35mm (closer standard drill size), Farnell sockets can't be used.

Stay tuned :)
I love 51x format, and this inspires too much :)
More 51x stuff to come. Later.

/hmm....can't stay....well... More 51X-F76 PICTUREZZZZZ!!!!

Funny, I was just thinking about this project today. I really need an 1176, but it always seemed such an act with this huge case and pushbuttons and what have you. Feel like treating myself to a "kit" on this one.

Yep. Got this running fine at +/-16, tested with 4 types of DOA's, still not get my 51x rack back from my friend who took it for session filled with pair of MixBuzz500.
For now: works fine; same compression like 1176; have to change
some mechanic stuff to fit everything bit better :)
Test results will be posted tomorrow, for now-some funny photos....

Are you going to make different rev versions on this?

Looks pretty slick!

Will you be making a clean 500 series john hardy pre-amp or similar?

You sick bastard. Very nice. Over in the photo album, who's DOA is that with the LED's? I want some of those. The one with the transistors wrapped in copper foil for thermal coupling. Schweet, schweet, schweet...... DW.
