where should i look for overload protection for my passive monitoring system...
(power_amp - passive speaker)

EDIT : not worried about my amp but the speakers...

i was thinking of using some fast_blow fuses connected between amp and the speakers...

A fuse that's big enough to allow the LF units to work without blowing won't protect the HF units. In my experience even a dedicated fuse for the HF unit is unlikely to be fast enough. Some manufacturers put light bulbs in series with the HF units - they have low resistance until the current gets high enough to heat them up, then the resistance increases. This can work pretty well, but choosing the right bulb rating could involve some trial and error.

how do they do it on active monitors ?

EDIT :  found this

There is no good solution passively. Best I've seen is lamp with PTC fuse shunting the lamp so it is completely out of the circuit at low levels. When heated the PTC opens and lets lamp limit the HF path.  Even a simple fuse can add LF distortion as the fuse resistance changes with heating.
