I came up with the idea going portable, and recording with great preamps anywhere using a portable power source. There are external batteries which mainly are made for laptops (for example this: http://www.amazon.com/Duracell-PowerSource-Mobile-100-Powersource/dp/B000S0VFRE/ref=sr_1_5?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1280354183&sr=1-5) ... However, I guess this type of batteries has a modified sine wave output voltage wave form, instead of a pure sine wave output.

You guys knows everything about this.. how would this affect the preamp (and it's sound)? In other case I have to find a solution which have a pure sine wave output.

pretty inefficient.
dc>ac>dc
dc>dc  or series storage cells to get required voltage is better.

dc>ac inverter or dc>dc converter can give lots of switching noise.
can be filtered; series L shunt C series L
