Hi friends.

I'd like to use a Solen MKP on an Alctron HST-11A mod,
My idea is to use 1uF, 250V for C8 in the schematic.

If B+ supply is about 160V-180V...why 450V capacitors?
Is not a good idea to use 250V caps?

Another question...What type of cap would be good for C4?
Wima MKP?
Styroflex?
Another type?

Thanks

I'm not sure if this pertains to this circuit but i know with some tube circuits, when you turn them on there can be a short spike in voltage up in the 400v+ range, hence the higher rated parts. But that's all dependent on the power supply.
But if thats like the apex 460. I was fine using a 250v wima.

btw what mod is that
thanks

Thanks for the response.

Yep, the right schemo is Apex460 one.
This schematic is from an Alctron I modded a time ago.

The actual mod is:

GE 6072 tube
Haufe T14/1 trafo
AKG CK12 capsule
Cathode follower remove
C9 and C10 remove (RFI supressing?)

Then, higher rated caps should be bypass and output capacitors...is that correct?

No, I think you will be fine with 200v + rated. The power supply charges up slow(ish). so you will be fine with that rating
good luck

I'm not familiar with that mic per se, but shouldn't the B+ be closer to 120V? The capsule fixed pol voltage is B+/2 and you're using a CK12 that likes 60V... ?

I don't remember exactly which is B+ value. I will measure it when I receive the stuff.
If necessary, will modify voltage divider for capsule pol voltage.
Does Nylon CK12 work with 60V?
