So I have some old Midas PR series channel strips that I want rack into a sort of a mini-mixer, kind of a sidecar design I guess. I'm considering an 8 channel design: 4 standard channels (mic pre, eq, aux sends, and fader), two aux channels (each with 2 aux bus outs and a return), and two master summing channels (L/R).
My (very, very rudimentary) electronics knowledge leads me to believe this is possible, because all of the summing and routing is handled on the channels, but I'm concerned about powering the thing. I have no idea how much current the channel strips are going to draw. I need +/- 16v rails and I don't want to get to complex with this, so I'm thinking about going with one of JLM's PS kits (http://www.jlmaudio.com/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=12)... but I'm afraid I'm going to overexert and blow something in the PS up.
Any thoughts?
