Well after much research I found the right group of guys to ask some questions!
I am building a 12 ch MM-71 mixer/sidecar with just a simple mix buss, i.e.
just pan (or maybe Left and Right buttons with both in for mono) I saw NY Dave's
nice design and think it will work but I don't need volume pots. I am open
to any and all ideas on the best way to do this. I will be using the echo send
to 600/600 output transformers for direct outs. and coming of the faders
unbalanced outs to feed the buss. I also have the quad eight cn-28 combing
amps so these may help but in the end I just want the best sound and would like to try different amps on the buss. thanks! :)

I have a couple of CN-28's. Open them up. There are a bunch of resistors in there and one fairly large transistor can. It may be sort of gold in color. That's a Quad Eight AM-4 amplifier. They had their own silicon etched and there are transistors and resistors and capacitors inside that one can. You want to check out the forums over at Orphan Audio. Orphan is out in LA. He owns all the Quad Eight rights now. He's got all the schematics. He will sell them to you. His name is Ken Hirsch. He's a bit hard to get in touch with. I'm on that forum over there too. I have issues. DW.

thanks for the reply, yes I have took a peek in the cn-28 they have 2 am-4 op amps (some have am-3's) and they
have summing resistors. I asked at orphan for a schematic but no response yet.
