I thought I'd make a short video on how I made a drone-y synth bass sound using some PVC plumbing and a couple of free plugins.

It's not DIY as defined around here, but someone might find it interesting. There's also nothing innovative or clever about it, but it works, and I like the result.

Sucked royal until you put the plugs on it.
Then it sounded as good as anything I've heard.

Nice job and way to fight the power and DIY it.


 
They make all the difference in the world. I especially like the sound of Frohmage. The developer (I'm fairly sure it's a lone-wolf operation) really nailed that imperfect, distorted sound we all like from analog filters, in my opinion.

If I were to do it again (and I might just do this anyway) I'd re-record the membrane pipe sample with five or six (or more) layers and do away with the chorus plug.
