Thanks Duantro and Saxmonstor you guys are the ducks guts will order mine soon
i was rereading the tread last night and came across the post about mounting the stuff that goss under the little amp boards on the the under side of the main board about a hour to late  :'( oh well i guess that is why you make a prototype before the main run. :-[

I mounted the stuff on top under the amp boards.  The trick is how you solder in the mill-max sockets if you got the ones in Mulletchuck's Mouser cart.  Look through my pics on page 21 and you will see how to solder the sockets so there is room underneath.

thanks kdramsey
I was just looking at those pics before and wondering how you got them so level, good job.
i think i will do it the same way you did with them sitting up for the proto type and then the other 5 i will put the componets on the under side how ever i was looking at mine just now and it looks like i would have to mount the millmax pins up a little any way to stop them touching with the little bits of solder and leg that poke throug each hole.

where did you guys get you knobs from? i liked the Classic API British Marconi ones but they are all out so that is not a option i guess.
i all so liked the ones KDE had on his the look lilke the origenals very cool

after finally getting rack space, in the form of a van daal 51x rack, i found out that both the pcb and the L-bracket of the la3a 500 are too wide to fit in. it's a matter of a fraction of a mm but nonetheless, they won't enter. so i'm planning to file something. in my situation, would you file the pcb and L-bracket of the laz la3a or would you file a slot position in the rack?

thanks

Long overdue, I'm finally taking a shot at my first build ever. I reckoned the 3 little boards where a good place to start. Cool project, cool forum.

compressor in and correctly squashing, still have to put the meter in and correctly calibrate it, hope i'll have the time one of these nights, but being the first build and all i was so eager to test it and see if it lit up, let alone pass audio! it's been a great build, this thing is fun, i hope i'm not hooked... thanks especially to kdramsey as his pictures helped a lot (well, reading the whole thread over and over helped a lot too).

p.s.: sorry for no beer picture in the background. i'll fix that too.

So what is everyone using for the meter screws?
Seems like the V1 I built included them...

And another one lives! Massive thanks to Mr Lazaro, and also thanks to everyone who posted BOMs, pics and calibration info. This was a pleasure to assemble and sounds fantastic!

Cheers,

Matthew

Hey peter which pots did you use for the newest run of kits? Ive been thinking about upgrading my pots

Peter's new kits didn't have pots this time around.

You need to get something with plastic shafts so you don't get interference when you touch them with metal knobs,  unless you have plastic knobs.  This is what i replaced my first pair which had metal shafts with.

good luck
