Possibly the dumbest question of 2011 to date, and if so my apologies in advance -  but how do you guys strip the teflon coating off the end of the leads of a mic capsule?

I keep trying use my normal wire strippers but these capsule wires are so fine they just rip through the wire totally. Am worried I will almost be on the gold diaphragm soon with no wire left!

For the avoidance of doubt, the "insert into mouth and bite with top and bottom teeth" method has yielded similar ineffective results:)

Please enlighten me.

Isn't the wire hooked to some little screws that you can unscrew and replace the wire?
I was gonna suggest that you can strip it by burning it with a cigarette lighter - the end of the insulation will melt just enough to solder it, but I wouldn't use open fire near the diaphragm...
:-X

Just thinking about it makes my hands sweat. ;) verry carefully....If anyone has a surefire way I'm interested to know too...I just used some needle nose pliers to hold the wire steady and some standard "universal" type wire strippers to do the dirty work.

I use No-Nik Wire Strippers. Mine are very old, the new ones are pricey.

As Speedskater posted No-Nik.  I have had good results with the No-Nik strippers
