Hi all,

I've got a problem with my MTR90-II capstan..
While i was allinging the machine i noticed on my scope that the sinewave was wobbling a bit when I compared the input signal to the replayed signal..
I traced it to a slight swing of the capstan roller.
First i replaced the roller but the problem remained. So i guess it must be the capstan-axle. And when the machine is @ 30ips you can see the capstan axle swing a little aswell.. I have the spare so I took the motor out of the machine in total, undid the roller and found a locking ring..
When i removed that and pulled the axle al little it stayed put...
Can somebody help we out with how to proceed.. i don't want to apply excessive force for now..

Any help is more than welcome!

all a happy X-mass!

Remco,

I cant help with your present mechanical problem

BUT - a warning: When you re-assemble the capstan motor, be sure to check that the tacho still is correctly working and adjusted. If it's not, the capstan motor can burn out very quickly (been there, done that)

thanks Jakob.. i'll keep an eye on that..

I'll take the motor home and look at it all X-mass long to see if i can come up with a sollution
