MS, Pultec, 1/2-BA283 boards support thread!

Hi guys, here is the support thread for these boards...

Why I didn't called it MS/Neve Pultec support thread: because many people will find a use
for MS boards and out half of BA283 make-up stage without the EQ boards, others will use
Pultec boards with another make-up stage, etc etc.

I got the Neve+Pultec combo idea from Purusha about a year ago, btw, he offering the cases at his forum,
he told me Pultec EQ sound great...
First, I was doubt. Second, thought a bit....and tried.

Yes, the sound is f@@@ng unbelievable good. What this EQ can do....

On a drum group, I did next thing:
-Cut the lows at S
-Boost a bit lows at M
-Add some hi-mid at M
-Add some highs at S
-Open the S at 2 db more than M with makeup gain
-Compress 3 db at peaks, not more, with MixBuzz1, sc at 80 Hz, ratio 4, attack/release up to yr taste;

Equalize the levels and compare with source.

My impressions from this sound are, of course, subjective, but guys, it is worthy to hear THIS sound once at life at least))

Hell mate! Looks insanely good!
How much for full stereo kit? And does the kit include components?
Im in the middle if a build at the moment but this looks like it could be next on the cards.

Is it easily possible (if so can you please explain) to use exclusively decode or encode - i.e. input in MS process with EQ then output LR or vice versa?
This is when applied to stereo Igor stereo pultec where one might input to the eq a Mid side signal, process in mid side then before output decode back to stereo effectively using the unit only as a decoder...

Also will it be documented the resisitors to use for 0.5 db steps?

is there a B.O.M some where? how do you connect the filters to the make up pcb? ( with wire I know but.....)

and what transformers do the make up pcbs take. They are both Carnhills but is it the line input trannie i need as well as the output trannie?

Is there an easy way to implement a gain range switch? To select between 15dB of boost/cut and 5dB for example for more precise action.

It says on the control panel 10k log 100k log etc. Can I indeed place pots here? If so, how? I don't want to or need to add switches here as I won't need the gain to be completely accurate or repeatable. Is this possible???????

Is anybody offering a case or at least front panel for this?  Not sure I can be as accurate as needed for PCB mount switches.

and how do I hook up a make up gain knob to the make up PCB? Totally lost here!!!!!!!! There is a supplied PCB but with no resistor values on them and no way of connecting it to the make up PCB.

Help please. This project is needs a little more info please.....

Igor,

I have received my PCbs. Please please, if you have any time, talk us through how to put this together, in my case without the ms PCB but with the BA283 make up PCB. I am totally stuck here. I have figured out a BOM by guessing what kinda caps we need but I have no idea how to hook the control PCB up to the BA283 and add a makeup knob, what values to use here etc etc etc ??? ???

Question about MS boards,    I saw you are using zobel/load over each secondaries.

For input trasformer, in my case VTB9046,  what zobel values and Rload for each winding is ok? (to use with this passive EQ circuit Zin)
The same question for output transformer VTB9049
