Hi,
after reading around the mic metas i was wondering about a particular mic mod thats alway
mentioned,  the after capsule change to a 1000pf polypropylene. I was wondering why poly was always used or suggested in this position? and what might be the difference with say a polyester in this position.

Thx

Film caps are slightly more ideal or more like perfect caps than ceramic or electrolytic.

Within the film caps, polypropylene (and polystyrene) are slightly better than polyester (aka Mylar).

NPO or COG ceramics are generally the best of ceramics and quite good.

look for C. B.'s PDFs about cap distortion.  This will help you understand why it can matter.

Remember it is all about taste and the DC voltage difference between the plates
