Has anyone ever done a PCB or build for V72 or V78?

Drip used to make em... not sure if they're still being made though.  I know Purusha made cases... might try his site

cheers,

Mercury has made one already assembled for you, priced like a decent car;

There´s also the 672, excellent discrete version of V72, i own a pair, got the modules cheap some years ago. David Marquette racked them up for me, really a looker and also an excellent tool.

Hhhm. Yeah. PCBS for V72 would be interesting!

Thanks for asking an obvious question
[ which doesn't seem to have been asked ? recently ? ]

I'd be in for a couple if anyone takes up the task
i haven't developed my cad skills yet , to do it myself

There's a solid state V72??? What???

Kidding.

I'm sure it's the tube version that's the cats pajamas.

A PCB layout for the (tube) V72 sounds like a fun project. I assume all the iron would be off the PCB? I'm game to have a go. Which circuit are we going to take as gospel?

Cheers

Ian

I like the original V72 (non-A) version. Less gain, better sound.

I have a pair here if we need any info from the actual unit.

Lot's of good quality iron in those puppies.

I think the v72 has a choke feeding the plate voltage to the tube, like Sowter 9375 - costing 60 BRP.
I recall reading in a thread on this that it is a key component to how the output tube functions...

I know the company guy, maby he has some pcb to sell

M.

The V72s version would be nice, it's the studio version of the V72, one extra resistor and a slightly different input transformer. While the transformer may be a challenge, the extra resistor would be easy. A nice addition would be a 1/4-inch DI input along with a variable gain control with the proper compensation to maintain frequency response.

Here's a thread that CJ started a while ago.

Or if you're really gonna go the distance, a V76 would be even better. Basically two V72's back to back but with one set of transformers, variable gain, high & low pass filters and enough gain for just about any micing situation.

Yeah parts count for tube is not so much that
one could wire it point to point , and
it's the iron that'll be the tough [ expensive part ]
still this could be a good chance as mark points out
to make a premo version how about a v76
that is switchable to a v74 ?
Wonder if the 51x psu could handle the heater current
with a dc-dc converter for B+

Those all look very very tasty.... :)
Anyone know what kind of iron is used? Sowter has some correct? What about if people wanted to used different/options?

speaking of NY , maybe
Ed anderson is up for it ?
He's certainly proven capable of producing
the goods so far , guess that depends on his time
and or interest , mignt have to do a prebuy

better is always better!
with that tube count, a sub for ef86 seems prudent.  pinout dictating layout and all that...

from a quick skim of an old thread, the output is somewhat trivial in comparison to the input.  1:30 ratio?!?

EDIT: here's the thread for reference.

PCB for V76!!!!

Well, THAT would be something.

Count me in.

Isn't the REDD.47 just modified V72?

I have the solid state version of V76, it's called V376 and it's great....but it's NOT V76 though..
