where to purchase SDC capsules?

Good question...
ebay?
... seriously : The problem I had purchasing SDC capsules is that most of the time the capsule is part of the entire mic head, inside of wich all capsule's parts are held together. So you have to deal with a head with a custom-threaded base wich is a PITA to make fit to a homemade or donnor body...
By the way, OktavaUSA sell individually all the MK012 heads. I had a deal for a couple once. After days of head-sckraching, I ended up buying some of their remouvable pads just for the threaded part... See:

more on the rest of the front end audio site. not raw  capsules but for me a capsule enclosed with grill and enclosure is a plus. just add your DIY amp and micbody..

hey pucho just finished repopulating an mnats 1176 pcb with components from your board. on vacation this week but should have it hooked up and ready to fire upsoon. thanks again

anytime. My issue is I just need the capsule to replace a faulty capsule in a rode nt3. Yes the obvious answer is go to rode and see if they will sell one, but was wondering in case it's decided to not go to rode. More over the nt3 itself is not a SDC but not really a LDC so should I call it an MDC?

I think it's not a case of being the "obvious" answer... it's the ONLY answer.

It doesn't matter WHERE you go, making any other capsule fit is going to require more work, mostly custom. That's going to cost more, take longer, and leave you with a non-standard product.

I'd say that even considering going elsewhere is a waste of time.

I would agree. But for sake of argument was looking into alternatives. already sent rode an email.
