Question 1:  The API 550b has the following frequencies available:

Lo freq 30, 40, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400

Lo-mid freq 75, 150, 180, 240, 500, 700, 1k

Hi-mid freq 800, 1k5, 3k, 5k, 8k, 10k, 12k5

Hi freq 2k5, 5k, 7k, 10k, 12k5, 15k, 20k

Now, 6 position switches are a lot easier to obtain in the needed configurations than 7 position switches.
Soooooooo, I need to leave out one frequency in each band, and would like some opinions as to which ones.

Question 2:  If you had to choose, would you rather have a polarity reverse switch, or the bandpass filter like in the 550 and 550a?

Thanks!

Either 30 or 400
Lo-mid freq 75, 150, 180, 240, 500, 700
75
Hi-mid freq 800, 1k5, 3k, 5k, 8k, 10k, 12k5
12k5
Hi freq 2k5, 5k, 7k, 10k, 12k5, 15k, 20k
20k

In fact, the problem is that 6 different frequencies on shelving EQ's is almost redundant, but 12 midrange frequencies (in total) is lacking.

since the high and low are switchable bell/shelf, i'd say get rid of either the lowest or highest of each band. either way, the remaining frequencies still overlap plenty and it would still be a sick EQ. although, losing the 800 and 75 might be a bit of a bummer so maybe ditch 30, 700, 12k5, 2.5k. or maybe ditch 20k and keep 2.5k...oh man!! i don't know! (also, doesn't the 550b also have 1k somewhere? top of the low mid band?).

and i'd vote for the bandpass, or maybe just a high pass.

Lo freq 30 or 40

Lo-mid freq REALLY tough to decide... would it be possible to get rid of both 30 and 40 from the low band and put 75 in their place?

Hi-mid freq 12k5

Hi freq 2k5 (20k is useful for mix buss)

The low mid band is the tricky one in my opinion. All very useful frequencies.
As I said above, I would prefer flexibility in the more audible range of lows from 50 - 100.
50 - 75 -100 at the bottom of the low band would be a great selection.
