:?

i have two Philips 470µ/200V*
for the G7 Psu, but the 2 legs have
the same length !!

one leg have a black point
and the other leg have a white point

which is the + ??

thanks

Are there no indicators on the can? No arrows etc? I'd think the black dot was negative, but I wouldn't use 'em if I wasn't sure!

Hehe...

I worked at a place where we once got a shipment of 10.000yf/63V caps that had the WRONG indicators for +/-.. fun :?: NOT

put a 1 k 1/4 watt resistor in series with the positive leg.
hook up an ammeter in series with a 24 volt pwr supply.
check polarity by first aplyng plus 24 to the resistor and watching current.
should start around 20 ma and drop towards zero, but not all the way.
short out the cap to discharge it and reverse the polarity.
with minus 24 hooked to the resistor, you should see the current start down and then level off , never getting as close to zero as the correct polarity.
this means the reverse bias is creating excess leakage current, which means the polarity is reversed.
hope this helps.
