Just finished my unit this weekend, and aboslulely love it.

This is my 2nd DIY and I must say Im happy both my builds came out perfect, with little troubleshooting to be done.

Stats:

Cinemag CMLI-10/600B inputs
Cinemag CM-9589L outputs

Telefunken Tubes
ecc801s
ecc82

Kubi mods and I used .1uf POI instead of wima where applicable.

Selectable curve switch with 6 selections.

edit:

The settings that worked best for me were [Hard to soft]:

Second Vactrol
Big red LED parallel
Small red LED Parallel
100k
1k
Orange Clear LED parallel

Edcor Power Tranx

I used the knobs off an Akai-M8 I hacked for a preamp on a different build...

Pics are a teaser, I will upload some better ones when I get a better cam this week.

Im still experimenting with values, and different leds... the way I built it I used a double row socket connector so that I can swap different LEDs/Resistors for the curve values...

Right now I have in no final order
1k, 100k, red- anti [small led], red[larger] parallel, green led [large], and second vactrol anti-parallel

Musically I really like the red and green leds, they give it  a hard heavy compression setting, not getting good results with vactrol but I asume there might be a false connection somewhere...

My goal is to go from a nice soft compression to a very obvious heavy one...

8), nice one Congrats...

Thanks Man! I really liked your over-all lay-out so I borrowed from it  :p Love this thing, just need to calibrate the channels, in link mode they seem to be well balanced but while in mono theres a huge difference... Also... its acting like a limiter, with a -1 to -2db reduction at 0 compression.. Not that im complaining, its great on the master, as it shaves off just the right amount... but Id like to know whats causing it...

Gotta re-read the 55pages to get some clues..

Looks great!
You should have a bit more space between caps and tubes/sockets.  Give at least a half inch for longevity.
Mike

I tried to keep things as spacious as i could but, like kubi said, real-estate was scarce. I  did put a case fan at the top of the case. Keeps things very cool.

Nice,

Did you use Shaefer/Front Panel Express for the front panel?

I used the front designer to design the panel and had it machined by a local machine shop... he ended up sort of messing up one of the holes on the meter, but it was nothing I couldnt cover it with the meter itself so the job was actually free! I bet you cant tell where its at!
