Beatles in Abbey Road, 1964 --Stereo monitors?

I thought I read they mixed mono with a single, center monitor.  Whatever...a great look at the people and the gear.

IIRC the moment stereo was in use across the pond the folks at abby road often would monitor in stereo...

According to Recording the Beatles they had L & R (Altec) monitors in the control room of Studio 2, but normally monitored only on the R monitor.

Yes, mono was definitely the thing for pop but EMI recorded lots of classical music at Abbey Road and much of that was stereo.
