Perhaps a re-think of the gdiy 51x rack is required to incorporate these!!

I proposed it to the guys but we could not agree on the type of wood. Volker wanted one and Jeff another.

But we all agree that they should not be varnished.

In fact Jeff even suggested we should include a pair of surgical gloves, as apparently even the finger marks cause a lot of sonic degradation.

You're definately correct about not varnishing the wood Cemal...as I also felt...well difficult to explain really, but the music just seemed to...well breathe more when comparing varnished and un-varnished.  Of course I haven't yet heard the version which uses a natural oil based finish...which contains amongst things extract of cobra, but apparently the difference is mind blowing! Well worth the extra $765...

There is a simpler way to get less metallic, more organic sound which fits into 51x modules: http://www.dhtrob.com/projecten/elna1_en.shtml

Ah thats the way...or perhaps a combination of the 2?! Either way, I'm off to get me some rice paper to wrap around the headstock of my bass guitar....should sound awesome!  ;D

I bet those caps sound GREAT just before they burst into flames... God, I hope that's hickory... I love me some smoked hickory.

A nice touch using a furniture factory lathing byproduct found from scrapyard. An ordinary businessman would have just sold them as pellets wood heating homes. "a swiss birch you say?"

But they are  " self centering "    but really a Trio ?
that's not going to be stable ,  you have to buy 3 sets
for stereo

FFS .. Fred Flintstone does HiFi!

I know Pucho is still suffering from 70's aftershock and the word Quad , may trigger
flashbacks but fear not , Time has proven the trike to be dangerous and thus
Four IS more , .....than three at least .

And I believe they should be used in strict atmospheric [ that's atmo , mofo ! ] conditions
that means lacquered or not they need to be in a sealed container !

woodLenses free audio equipment cabinets from their strain. Cabinet resonances are reduced, and certain modulation effects are pushed to much lower and less harmful frequencies. Wood also neutralizes the often strident metallic character of these resonances, so instrumental crafting seems to take a part of the effect. woodLenses have an extremely positive effect on transparency, natural timbres, ambience reproduction and dynamics: the gain in coherency and focus is simply astonishing. woodLenses are placed on an optimally level, flat and polished surface. (if necessary brass plates can help.

Mmm,  I wonder if they recommend laquering the metallic brass plates in an attempt to neutralise the metallic character of the resonances!

Why stop there... Seal the whole control room. If you pump out all the air, it'll keep you from oxidizing!
